Trance Poetics: A course and a community to support creative people with medicines of language and imagination

TrancePoetics is an online trance writing experience designed to support your creative process with the medicines of language and imagination.

The oracle of TrancePoetics holds a treasure chest of practices, prompts, teachings, and connections with others who have also chosen the creative path. What oracle are you holding? No matter what the genre–whether it be memoir, non-fiction, novel, poetry, paintings, or a blurring of them all–whatever form your creative life may be taking you, I’m here to help you bring your vision into form.

Kristin’s Trance Writing workshop was unlike anything I have experienced before both inside and outside my M.F.A. Her depth of knowledge about poetry and trance techniques have resulted in her own unique mind, heart, and soul-opening tools for her students. Not only did I write different and exciting new poems, I was given tools for personal and creative transformation.

If you are a writer, if you are not a writer, if you work with words, if you want to access deeper parts of yourself….this workshop is a must! Kristin integrates her rich and varied wealth of knowledge of writing, history, and art with research from neuroscience and the understanding of the mind, the unconscious, and the profound work of hypnotherapy in this elegant and eloquent “hands on” workshop. Highly recommended! You’ll leave with a much expanded sense of the wisdom of your own unconscious and you’ll learn how writing can be a tool to access this wise place.

This Trance Writing workshop was freeing and empowering. I’m amazed at how much happened in terms of my often-stuck poetry practice. In such a brief, rich, intense space in time. I am hugely grateful for the safety of the workshop and for Kristin’s deep wisdom, permission, generosity, and guidance. I feel like an enormous shift in my poetry practice has taken place, and I am so excited to go home and keep following the energy Kristin has created.

Creative  Offerings

An hour-long somatic language experiment unfolded in tandem with the trance healing soundscapes of Peter Blum and some slow cinema visual immersions. If it is language that makes worlds, then one role of the poet is to reveal poiesis: the making of a world in language that embodies change, even as it is in flux. This performance contains seeds of story and myth that intersect with the future in this moment; the underlying high stake: we must believe that change is possible, and that language is the medicine.

With a soundscape by Peter Blum. Presented by the Station Hill Intermedia Lab at Green Kill Gallery in Kingston, NY.
