I started writing and publishing this book six years ago because I wanted to express how important language is to the process of healing, both physically and emotionally. The previous two versions of this book were so well received that I decided to bring them together into a new, expanded edition with a new introduction and revised chapters.
If you or someone you know is in pain but has been told, “we can find no evidence of anything wrong. It’s stress; or, it’s all in your head,” don’t despair. Your head isn’t such a bad place for it to be because from there you have a lot more power than perhaps you had previously thought… to transform it into something else that isn’t pain.
